In the dental field, the impact of 3D-printing is today being felt far beyond the metal and the plastic industry. This is particularly true in the world of ceramics, where processes such as Lithography-based Ceramic Manufacturing (LCM) are opening up tremendous opportunities.

With the increasing performance demands of both patients and dentists, ceramic 3D printing rises as the solution which meets the challenges of the dental sector. It offers newfound design freedom as complex 3D metal-free applications are produced layer-by-layer while enabling the technological limitations of standard ceramic processes such as milling to be overcome.

In this webinar, Dr. Daniel Bomze (Lithoz) will give insights on state of the art materials for ceramic 3D printing, such as high-performance zirconia and bioresorbable ceramics. Furthermore he will show how the technology is used to develop innovative applications in the dental field. Not just for the design and fabrication of dental restorations and implants, but also for customized bone grafts and scaffolds for tissue regeneration.

Dr. Jens Tartsch / Switzerland (President of the European Society for Ceramic Implantology ESCI) will present reasons for the use of ceramics as a new material in dental implantology and explain his views on the use of 3D printing for the manufacture of ceramic dental implants. A comparison between conventional manufacturing methods and innovative technologies such as LCM will be presented.
