Zirconium dioxide is used wherever particularly high material requirements must be met. The material stands out for its high flexural strength, fracture toughness, and hardness, as well as its excellent biocompatibility and aesthetics.
Lithoz offers a wide selection of high-quality materials for the LCM process, including zirconia (LithaCon), alumina (LithaLox), composite ceramics (ATZ and ZTA), silicon nitride (LithaNit), silica-based material (LithaCore), aluminum nitride (LithaFlux) or calcium phosphates (LithaBone). Among the multiple material classes offered, zirconia is particularly well suited to applications with extremely demanding material requirements, such as dental implants or other dental applications made from zirconia. With a flexural strength of 1,000 MPa, high fracture toughness and excellent resistance to thermal shock and chemical corrosion, zirconia is the first choice for highly stressed structural components.
Yes. 3D-printed components match the properties of conventionally manufactured parts. To give an example, LithaCon 3Y 210 achieves a 4-point flexural strength of more than 1,000 MPa, a relative density of 99.4%, and a fracture toughness of 10–13 MPa·m¹ᐟ². Alumina-toughened zirconia (ATZ) combines the most advantageous material properties of alumina and zirconia, achieving a relative density of more than 99%, a flexural strength of over 1,100 MPa, and a hardness of 1,400 HV10.

Yes. We offer materials specifically designed for both fine structures below 100 µm and wall thicknesses of up to 20 mm. LithaCon 3Y 210 with its high green strength, is particularly suited to delicate and complex parts. At the other end of the spectrum, LithaCon ATZ 980 enables wall thicknesses of up to 20 mm with a characteristic strength of 750 MPa.
